Plans menus in accordance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements and Head Start performance standards while considering budgetary constraints. Plans classroom nutrition experiences with the Health Coordinator and teaching staff. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dishwashing area and manages necessary utensils. Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values. Prepares breakfast, snack, and lunch in compliance with CACFP daily requirements. Serves meals family style in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. Understands and applies CACFP reporting requirements; employs sanitation, cleanliness, and food storage techniques endorsed by CACFP. Monitors daily temperatures of refrigerator and food before distribution to classrooms; records per CACFP regulations. Maintains inventory of foods in accordance with CACFP; inventories and dates all kitchen items. Collaborates with teaching staff to plan nutritional experiences related to Education and Nutrition components of Head Start. Conducts annual inventory of Nutrition component equipment and materials. Orders nutritious, economical groceries low in fat and sugar, high in nutrients; maintains menu budget; keeps binder of all CN labels up to date. Works with distributors to order appropriate amounts of foods for each meal. Provides a 6-week menu cycle for approval by a nutritionist or dietician. Signs all grocery receipts after verifying items. Supervises the dishwasher/cooks aide and evaluates employees under supervision. Performs other job-related duties as assigned and presents a professional image in food preparation areas at all times. Attends training as requested or required; plans to attend staff meetings and program coordinators meetings as scheduled. Understands and adheres to the chain of command of Educare Winnebago and the Tribal Organization; follows Educare Winnebago policies and procedures. Handles confidential information with discretion; maintains confidentiality of information about children, families, and Head Start activities. Represents Educare Winnebago positively in the community. Completes production records at time of preparation, detailing amounts of food prepared, daily counts, and ingredients used. Maintains weekly cleaning checklist, including cleaning fridges/freezers, dishwasher, stove and oven. Monitors food inventory and maintains pantry organization; ensures classrooms are equipped with the proper materials and utensils for meals. Notifies supervisor of safety concerns, supply shortages, menu changes, and monthly report. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have a physical examination and a tuberculin test annually. Must be in excellent physical and good mental health. Must possess or be able to obtain Food Handler’s Certificate as soon as possible. Must have a personality conducive to working with small children, their families and staff. Must be of good moral character. Must convey strong communication skills. Supervisory Responsibilities

Cook Aide Dishwasher/Cooks Aide II Training Requirements

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) annual training requirements include meal pattern compliance, meal counting procedures, recordkeeping, monitoring requirements, reimbursement system, claim submission and review procedures and mandatory Civil Rights training. Must be willing to attend meetings and training as requested. Physical & Mental Requirements

Physical: Normal to light office work; ability to lift up to 10 lbs; regularly walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and office equipment; talk and listen during daily duties. Mental: Reading, writing, calculating; above-average social interaction skills; reasoning/analysis; ability to work as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision. Language

Must read, write, and speak English fluently; able to continually and effectively use professional verbal and written communication skills. Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
