Monitor and coordinate all nursing and medical care of patients in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Provide medical services directly to patients and maintain appropriate records and medical files per state and federal regulations. Screen and assess each patient for co-existing medical problems to assess risk factors affecting placement for treatment. Administer medications and treatments as ordered, in accordance with regulations; ensure proper documentation of all medication administration. Follow the physician and/or medical director's treatment plan and ensure it is being followed. Educate and facilitate patients in group processes covering chemical dependency, infectious disease, medical and mental health issues. Manage medical supplies, inventory, and equipment; maintain medical records, charts, and order lab work as required. Arrange appointments with physicians, coordinate lab work, and monitor follow-up on appointments. Counsel patients regarding hygiene, test results (e.g., HIV/AIDS testing), and changes in treatment; communicate important changes to the physician and team. Coordinate transfers between levels of care and assist in training teammates on medical conditions and patient care. Maintain continuing education credits as required and participate in team meetings and trainings. Support the doctor during physical examinations as needed and maintain a clean, orderly medication room and medical equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
Registered Nurse in the state of employment Minimum one (1) year experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health field Prior experience with chemical addiction and/or mental health, including psychopharmacology CPR certification The ability to triage in emergencies and assist nurses during medical emergencies Preferred
Three (3) years of experience with chemical addiction and/or mental disorders including psychopharmacology Education
Required: Associate's degree or better Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or better Licenses & Certifications
