VCA Animal Hospital of Santa Cruz is searching for a Veterinary Assistant passionate about patient care and dedicated to providing excellent client service.
The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care — with the expertise and technical know‑how to make them happen.
In this position, you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician teams by creating a positive, low‑stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
Responsibilities
Maintain medical records, obtain patient vital signs, and scribe patient histories.
Perform outpatient wellness services such as vaccines, deworming treatments, parasite preventions, light grooming; prepare the surgical suite and surgical patients.
Fill prescriptions and recommend appropriate hospital programs for wellness plans and prescription delivery services.
Perform laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
Provide compassionate care and a home‑away‑from‑home for boarded, grooming, and hospitalized pets.
Compensation ranges from $20.00/hr to $27.00/hr, depending on experience level. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical/dental/vision coverage, paid vacation (full‑time employees only), a 401(k) plan, generous personal pet care discounts, and more.
