CLASSIFICATION: FULL-TIME, EXEMPT

HOURS: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

Summary Of Position

The Intake Clinician’s primary responsibility is to conduct Intake Assessments for prospective patients seeking behavioral health services at the Bleuler Psychotherapy Center (BPC) or Bleuler Chemical Dependency Program (BCD). The Intake Clinician is responsible to collect all information required to complete the Intake Assessment to include demographics, presenting problem, referral source, family composition, risk level, prior behavioral health treatment to ascertain if the individual is appropriate for services at BPC. The Intake Clinician may carry a small caseload and run therapeutic groups as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts intake assessments and facilitates walk-in appointments through Open Access. Prioritizes high risk patients and referrals, coordinates communication with both the clinician and the patient to assure an appropriate and timely handoff from the intake process to clinician assignment. Makes referrals to agencies and community resources as appropriate for the patients. Participates in clinic initiatives to use evidence-based practices to assess and treat disorders and symptoms such as Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and Suicidal Ideation. Confers and consults with members of the treatment team including the psychiatrist, clinical supervisor, and other professional and technical personnel in implementing a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care as part of the warm handoff. Manages other cases as assigned, including facilitating groups and providing short term psychotherapy to identified patients awaiting permanent assignment to a clinician. Conducts Admission Review as needed to clinically facilitate the ongoing treatment of mental health treatment. Attends staff meetings, trainings and workshops. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must hold Master Degree in Social Work. Licensed as an LMSW or LCSW in NYS. LCSW preferred or willingness to attain within a 12month period, post achieving eligibility for exam. Must have three years’ clinical experience with an emphasis in working with clients who have mental health, and or dually diagnosed disease disorders. Proficiency using DSM-V diagnoses. Good verbal and written communication in English. Experience working with mental illness in children, adolescents, and the adult population Must be sensitive to cultural, religious, racial, disability and gender issues. Experience with Electronic Health Record system Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email, Internet Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

SKILLS:

Knowledge of the Office of Mental Health Part 599 regulations, and directives for licensed Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitative Service (MHOTRS_Article 31) Clinics. Knowledge of and adherence to Bleuler Psychotherapy Center guidelines, policies and procedures. Ability to provide case management and/or crisis services and psychotherapy to patients in need of mental health services. Responsible, organized, and efficient. Able to work independently to meet deadlines and complete tasks. Ability to perform in a team approach and accomplish multiple assignments. Skill to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and to listen actively. Community minded, patient, creative, flexible, compassionate, and culturally sensitive to persons who are diagnosed with a mental illness. Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with other Bleuler Psychotherapy Center employees, Federal, State, and City officials, professional and technical groups, patients, and the general public.

Salary: $72,000 - $80,000 annually Seniority level
