Job Description The University of South Florida (USF) Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is searching for a 12‑month Clinical Assistant Professor of Instruction in Audiology. The person in this position will provide clinical instruction and supervision to Au.D. (Doctor of Audiology) students in a university‑based, billing clinic and also be responsible for developing and teaching graduate‑level coursework in Audiology. This Au.D. position will focus on training students to work with a variety of disorders and populations, both in‑house and in community‑based settings. Clinical faculty regularly partner with academic and other clinical instructors across specialties in the delivery of graduate coursework to showcase the implementation of evidence‑based practices in clinical care. The candidate will also provide service to the university through faculty governance at the department, college, and/or university level and provide service outside the university to the community and/or profession. Applicants must be licensed to practice in Florida (or have applied for that licensing) before the position start date. The position will begin in August 2026. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Clinical Doctorate Degree (Au.D.) or Ph.D. degree in Audiology or related field
Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC‑A)
Holds or is eligible for Florida State License in Audiology (Florida Dept. of Health)
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of five years of professional experience in Audiology
At least three years of experience supervising or precepting Au.D. students in clinical settings
Clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Hearing aid selection, fitting, and troubleshooting
Assistive listening device selection, fitting, and troubleshooting
Comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations
Hearing conservation
Electrophysiological assessments
Experience teaching in a Doctor of Audiology program at an accredited university
Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers and Early Steps provider status
Familiarity with hearing aid reimbursement procedures and billing practices
Fluency in both English and Spanish
