Overview
Outpatient Administrative Specialist - Ophthalmology Responsibilities
Provide clinical administrative support to the assigned ambulatory area. Assist in the preparation of monthly reports by compiling statistical data related to clinic services as needed or requested. Serve as a resource for providers and staff regarding referral and authorization processes. Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures including registration activities (entering/verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information); generate routine forms and other documentation. Manage the EPIC Referral Work Queues (WQs). Answer phones, prioritize incoming mail, faxes and correspondence. Advise patients on insurance carrier requirements for services not covered and obtain necessary documentation; collect patient co-pays, etc. Apply understanding of the need for ABN\'s and Waiver of Liability patient signatures. Obtain insurance authorizations and referrals; manage denial processes accurately and efficiently. Accept assignments to other areas and perform additional administrative support duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Associate\'s degree and two (2) years of relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare-related setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing/insurance requirements, familiarity with medical coding, and excellent written/oral communication skills. Computer skills and keyboarding abilities are necessary. Ability to maintain good public relations with patients, visitors, co-workers and others. Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of computer systems such as Epic, Word and Outlook. Work Days
Varying hours between 7:00a-5:30p Monday-Friday. No weekends/holidays. Employment type
