The Omni Care Culinary Extern will assist in the preparation and execution of food in designated outlets at Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa, following departmental quality standards, recipes, and plating specifications. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of work areas and equipment. Responsibilities
Prepare all food items efficiently and accurately as directed. Inspect all food products for quality and freshness. Follow proper storage procedures when handling food from and to the walk‑in. Safely and correctly operate all culinary equipment. Demonstrate solid understanding of cooking techniques and skills. Maintain walk‑in, prep areas, and equipment to meet Health Department and EcoSure standards. Attend departmental meetings and required company trainings. Follow recipes accurately, adjusting quantities as needed. Exhibit proficient knife skills and proper seasoning techniques. Adhere to established culinary processes and procedures. Read and interpret contracts and order tickets. Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., stewarding, banquets). Complete requisitions accurately. Clean and maintain equipment properly. Comply with all state sanitation and health regulations, as well as resort standards. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; enrollment or recent completion of a Culinary Degree Program preferred. Minimum 1 year of culinary experience preferred. Familiarity with weights and measures for recipe execution. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic math skills required. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment. Valid Food Handler’s certification required. Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry moderate weight. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, with frequent bending and twisting. Must be able to use culinary tools (e.g., knives, commercial equipment) and possess taste/smell capabilities. Working Environment
Primarily indoors in restaurant and kitchen areas; occasional outdoor work. Exposure to humidity, steam, extreme temperatures, and hazardous cleaning chemicals. Tools & Equipment
Culinary utensils and commercial kitchen equipment. Responsible for grilling, roasting, and baking fish, steaks, chicken, and shellfish. Maintain safe food handling procedures at all times. Equal Opportunity Employer
