The Community Children’s Nursing Service is a nurse led service based at Firrhill House which provides specialised paediatric nursing care to children and young people with a broad spectrum of nursing needs, including an acute illness, chronic care needs, palliative and end of life care.
Position There is now an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join our dynamic team.
As part of the Community Children’s Nursing Service, you will support the registered nurse team to deliver person‑centred nursing care in partnership with patients, their families and associated services. The B4 role involves clinical care of children with short‑term and long‑term nursing needs alongside supplies management and some administrative support.
Key Requirements
Be a flexible team player.
Have excellent communication skills.
Be enthusiastic.
Be able to work in a variety of community settings across Lothian and in accordance with NHS Values.
Hold a current driving licence.
Have a PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult). If not a current PVG member, you will need to apply to Disclosure Scotland and be deemed satisfactory before beginning in post.
Additional Information
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Any changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
As this post is part‑time, the salary will be pro‑rata.
