Job Summary Location: Medical Office Building – MWH
Address: 717 N 190th Plz, Elkhorn, NE
Work Schedule: Four – 8‑hour shifts per week. Shift start times may vary: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; 7:30 am to 4:00 pm; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Incentives: $10,000 sign‑on bonus, tuition assistance, academic sponsorship with Methodist College, and free parking.
Some travel to other locations may be required.
Perform perinatal diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols to assist the Maternal‑Fetal Medicine Specialist with diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities
Perform and evaluate exam quality.
Identify each patient by ID band verification and birth date.
Ensure patient understanding of pending procedure.
Cover appropriate body parts and position patient correctly.
Follow appropriate guidelines and departmental protocols.
Perform exams as priority dictates and as directed.
Critique each exam for technical and positional accuracy, making appropriate corrections if necessary.
Adhere to American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) guidelines.
Check all ultrasound exams with the Perinatologist and discuss end results.
Manage workflow and review orders for clinical and demographic consistency.
Assists physicians, patients, and coworkers as needed, seeking opportunities to provide patient care.
Understand and support the direction and workflow of the department.
Maintain awareness of ongoing exams and assist co‑workers as needed.
Provide exam information and status updates to pertinent staff members.
Relieve co‑workers from procedures/exams as necessary.
Be in the department and ready to work at the start of a scheduled shift.
Have processes set in place to allow for leaving at the end of a scheduled shift.
Obtain and consolidate all images, reports, and history with completed exam information for review.
Take call and coordinate inpatient procedure flow (hospital only).
Coordinate workflow with registered nurse and physician.
Use telephone for language barriers.
Schedule ultrasound appointments in Cerner.
Propose ultrasound orders to physicians (MD).
Use the Online Worklist to monitor orders and status.
Verify correct images matched with order.
Maintain knowledge of Genetic Engineering (GE), E10 and I.
Communicate with physicians (MD) and registered nurses (RN) for orders.
Perform all ultrasounds according to AIUM standards.
Able to use printer on all machines.
Follow department policy and procedures.
Ensure proper patient identification on all images to comply with department policies.
Seek opportunities to provide patient care or assist others as needed.
Demonstrate knowledge of department guidelines through responsible behavior.
Maintain updated ARDMS license.
Ensure that call reports and other specifications are followed through.
Report issues and concerns as soon as possible and help resolve them.
Provide and monitor “on‑the‑job training” per Methodist College standards.
Maintain professional and courteous relationship with students and instructors.
Provide leadership and guidance for students’ clinical experiences.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
Maintain student/co‑worker confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.
Provide age‑specific patient care and ensure comfort and understanding of treatment.
Show confidence and competency in all age‑specific categories.
Ensure patient comfort and understanding of the ordered exam.

Education
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered or board eligible required.
Graduation from an accredited ultrasound technology program required.
Participation in mandatory in‐services and continuing education as mandated by policies, external agencies, and supervisors required.
Experience
OB ultrasound experience preferred.
License/Certifications
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire; required within 3 months of hire.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the ARDMS required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Effective communication and interaction with patients, families, hospital personnel, and coworkers.
Ability to organize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication.
