Position Summary: Independently performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works within their scope of practice and in accordance with certification/licensure in medication administration, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and MRI scanner activities, including MRI safe practices. Exercises professional judgment to maintain equipment in good condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on-call responsibilities.
Essential Duties & Functions
Performs diagnostic quality MRI procedures as ordered, evaluating image quality.
Obtains clinical history and data for correlation.
Implements safety measures per MRI standards; performs QC as required.
Prepares and administers contrast media following policy; practices sterile techniques.
Assists radiologists in procedures and emergency treatments.
Coordinates patient care to optimize experience.
Educates patients/families about procedures.
Records and reports documentation; verifies physician orders.
Maintains emergency equipment knowledge.
Education & Certification
Associate degree in Allied Health, Medical Imaging Sciences, or related field.
Additional MRI physics coursework or completion within 6 months of hire.
CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
ARRT RT (R) or ARMRIT registry required; MRI registry preferred.
ODH licensure preferred.
Experience & Skills
No prior experience required; one year MRI experience preferred.
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and MRI safety guidelines.
Proficiency in EMR, RIS, and image storage systems.
Knowledge of advanced MRI computer applications.
