Summary : The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of Novant-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role provides a variety of technical procedures and applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The RT performs and analyzes patient x-rays and reports results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation. The RT will support Medical Providers, Medical Assistants and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. Job Requirements
Education
High School Diploma required Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required Work Experience
Experience in a clinical setting preferred Required Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law). Essential Functions
Responsible for x-ray services as needed Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use. May need to push patient in a wheelchair Patient Preparation and Rooming
Inform technical staff of patient flow. Prepare patients for examination, which includes interviewing to verify patient information, recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed. Conduct point of care testing as needed (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); provide patient information to provider. Administrative
Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files. Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care. Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed. Medical Team Support: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment; support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Patient Care: Explain procedures to patients, ensure their comfort and safety, and answer questions. Patient Positioning: Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results. Image Production: Adjust radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies. Radiation Safety: Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles to minimize exposure. Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems. Image Management: Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge
Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols; knowledge of anatomy and physiology for radiology. Skills
Positioning patients properly for X-ray procedures. Identify and address equipment problems; follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.
