The Medical Scheduler assists staff and physicians by scheduling patients for follow-up appointments and necessary tests and procedures. The Scheduler is a member of the healthcare team responsible for scheduling, pre-certification, and communication with patients. Direct patient interaction is provided to patients of all ages.
Essential Functions
Schedules follow-up/return visits to our office for patients
Obtains appropriate pre-certification and pre-authorizations, as needed
Schedules medical tests and procedures for patients
Discusses patient instructions for procedures with patient so patient has a clear understanding of what is expected
Calls patients to schedule procedures and give instructions over phone with follow-up letter with instructions
Uses Epic, Centricity Business, online paging systems and retrieves information from other hospital systems
Other Functions
Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
Performs other duties as assigned
