Position Summary This position works directly with all providers to educate patients, coordinate care across specialties, and work side‑by‑side in clinics. In addition, this nurse position will strive to improve protocol and workflow for patients for consistency in practice. The position supports prior authorization for OR cases, laser use, and management of difficult pediatric dermatology cases.
A general overview of the work includes triaging high‑level patient phone calls and messages, coordinating patient treatment orders and prior authorizations, and providing education on dermatological diseases and treatments, including medication management.
The Division of Dermatology has three pediatric clinic sites across the STL metro with three clinical faculty and a Physician Assistant.
Coordinates the care of patients for a designated service throughout the continuum of care; serves as a clinical resource in the area of specialty or expertise.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; completes health history and physical examination on patients; conveys findings to physician.
Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, attends inpatient rounds, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources.
Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance.
Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience.
Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act.
Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.
