Job Title: Medical Assistant
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides outstanding support to the primary care provider while delivering exceptional care to patients. This position provides clinical care, including check-ins, vital signs, electrocardiogram tests (ECG), injections, and PPD placements/readings, eye and ear irrigation, Thrombo-Embolic Deterrent (TED) hose and compression socks, specimen processing, procedure assistance, laboratory administrative functions, screening tests, autoclave use and maintenance, and quality controls for Point-of-Care Testing (POCT). The CMA participates in pre-visit planning and huddles with the interdisciplinary care team. For patients, this role explains procedures, treatments, and medication usage, provides educational materials and follow-up care, and delivers relevant information provided by the medical provider. Work Location: 107 Conner Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm Required Travel: None Duties/ Responsibilities
Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated. Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounters, follow protocols established by clinic leadership, and inform providers. Administer medications to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration. Assist providers with procedures such as EKG. Administer Injections/ Phlebotomy as needed. Perform tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection & sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice. Address needs of patients by completing forms accurately and thoroughly. Perform or assist with documentation of lab results, and collecting data. Participate in population management with other members of the care team. Review provider appointments the day before visit to anticipate patient and provider needs. Complete vision and hearing. Phone notes per PHS guideline. Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned and within scope of practice. Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting Program (Diploma or Degree) 1 to 3 years of healthcare experience in a clinical setting CMA or RMA Certification Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Eagerness to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team Takes initiative and performs additional assignments to assist workflow Aptitude for problem-solving Familiar with processing specimen for Lab Corp Proficient with administrative and clinical tasks Patient-centered focus Familiar with Point-of-Care Testing Understands quality control measures Ability to multitask Proficient with Microsoft Office and Performance Management Systems Comfortable with digital record systems Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism Knowledge of patient care, procedures, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills Detail-oriented and works well under pressure Ability to incorporate constructive feedback and learn on the job Performs well independently and in team environments Immunizations
