The Nursing Shift Supervisor is a nursing leader who serves as a resource for problem‑solving, provides clinical expertise, facilitates staff mentoring and coaching, and facilitates patient flow during off‑shift schedules (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays). The role is a per‑diem, off‑shift schedule position located in Rochester, NY. Responsibilities
Provides on‑site leadership and oversight during off‑shifts in hospital or long‑term care settings, managing patient care delivery, staffing, and emergent situations in the absence of onsite management. Supports staff through clinical problem‑solving, mentoring, coaching, and reinforcing hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Rounds on patients with concerns, admitted Emergency Department patients, and actively facilitates patient flow and decision‑making in collaboration with the care team. Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive care, while advocating for patient rights and shared decision‑making. Ensures appropriate documentation and communication of shift occurrences, safety concerns, and staffing adjustments; serves as liaison across departments and with leadership. Maintains required education, participates in leadership development, ensures fiscal responsibility, and engages in community and professional healthcare activities. Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for all new candidates prior to hire. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Education & Licenses
BS: Nursing BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (AHA) RN – Registered Nurse – New York State Education Department (NYSED) Physical Requirements
Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. Pay Range
$85,000.00 – $120,000.00 Location
