NVA General Practice . An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in: Gathering patient histories and performing physical exams Creating treatment plans and diagnostics Dental services and surgery assistance or performing procedures Medical management of patients Communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients Externships at White Oaks West Animal Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate. Hospital Features
Three exam rooms, two treatment rooms, and a surgical suite 20 computer stations including one in each exam room Digital dental x‑rays and a dental suite Wet table and new surgery table Ultrasound Endoscope Class 4 therapeutic laser Mobile isoflurane anesthesia machines Full Idexx Suite, Idexx referral lab, and Idexx DR digital x‑ray system Services including nutritional counseling, wellness exams, dental care, spay and neuters, and more Avimark management software Stipend
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for White Oaks West Animal Hospital is
