Overview
Deputy Construction Manager
role at
WSP in the U.S. This is a full-time position with the potential to work out of any US WSP office, including Tempe/Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; San Jose, CA; or Las Vegas, NV. The successful candidate will provide construction and technical direction on building/facilities construction related projects and will oversee small to medium multi-discipline projects from assignment through commissioning, close-out, and turnover to the client.
Your Impact
Support the Project Manager in tendering works, bid reviews and bid analysis.
Manage construction projects upon award of contracts.
Coordinate with contractors.
Monitor budget and schedule with adherence to cost and delivery contractual commitments.
Conduct construction monitoring and document project status with a weekly report.
Maintain a weekly construction log in a concise, professional format.
Record and document significant verbal, telephone, and media messaging.
Ensure quality control, documentation, and resolution of issues with fabrication, installation or materials.
Manage change orders with detailed knowledge of change and contractual requirements.
Ensure safety compliance with WSP and USPS SH&E requirements; participate in project start-up meetings and safety programs.
Manage responses to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
Interface with the client as required for the program.
Oversee project turnover documentation, including as-built drawings, training manuals, and OEM manuals.
Oversee equipment and systems testing and commissioning.
Field assignments are local and regional; travel may be up to 100% overnight.
Implement standards in compliance with USPS/WSP program requirements; seek guidance from Sr. Construction Managers as needed.
Possess knowledge of construction processes; demonstrate management of project elements, scope, schedule, cost, quality, and communications.
Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards and contract requirements.
Maintain clear, precise record-keeping and ensure regulatory compliance.
Comply with USPS/WSP Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.
Work with a variety of building types, including offices, light industrial facilities, and maintenance facilities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or relevant experience).
Experience working with outside 3rd party vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management or related disciplines.
Ability to self-motivate with an entrepreneurial spirit; proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, MS Project). Familiarity with Blue-Beam, AutoCAD, and project management software (e.g., Procore) is a plus and willingness to learn.
Experience managing direct and indirect resources; minimum 5+ years in construction management or supervisory role on light industrial or commercial projects.
Strong communication skills; knowledge of environmental, safety and health regulatory compliance; negotiation and construction management experience.
Resourceful, well-organized, dependable, detail-oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication; experience working with technical disciplines.
Strong organizational skills; ability to read, interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schedules related to architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building structures.
Physical Demands
Ability to stoop, sit, stand, or be on feet for extended periods and handle standard field-testing equipment.
Ability to work in varying environments (office and field) and willingness to travel.
Must pass drug test, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record per company policy.

Compensation: Expected Salary: $86,100 - $141,350. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range based on education, experience, and geography.
