Position Overview

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Survey Crew Chiefs to lead field survey operations for heavy civil infrastructure (highway/bridge) and energy projects around the United States. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented surveyor with at least 3 years of construction survey experience, strong leadership capabilities, and knowledge in dimensional control, industrial measurement. The Survey Crew Chief will establish and maintain safe, accurate, and efficient Survey Field Operations and ensure accuracy in construction fieldwork. Location

Support projects across the United States, with current opportunities in CO, NM, NE, KY, TN, and surrounding regions. Must be willing to travel to project sites as needed and occasionally visit the district office in Lone Tree, Colorado for training and meetings. Per diem, travel support, and required travel will be provided. Responsibilities

Implement project survey plants and lead field survey operations, managing daily activities of survey crews for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys. Operate advanced equipment including GPS, robotic total stations, 3‑D laser scanners, and data collectors to acquire high‑precision measurements. Proficient use of CAD (AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Microstation) is required to prepare layouts and convert drawings to Trimble Business Center. Interpret engineering drawings, plats, deeds, and construction documents to guide fieldwork; set and maintain a control network within tight vertical and horizontal tolerances. Review and validate field data for accuracy and completeness before submission; maintain accurate field notes and documentation. Coordinate with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to align on scope, schedule, and deliverables. Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Qualifications

Willingness to work 50‑60 hours per week, including weekends; overtime is paid. Minimum 3 years of field construction survey experience with dimensional control, industrial measurement, and supervisory experience conducting field surveys on heavy civil highway, bridge, power, water, or tunneling projects. Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business and familiarity with Leica or Topcon systems. Strong understanding of construction staking, boundary analysis, and control networks; ability to operate instruments and train others. Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Microstation) and GIS platforms. LSIT or PLS certification is a plus; otherwise, willingness to obtain certifications with Kiewit support. Valid driver’s license and regional travel capability. Comfortable with outdoor fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions. Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks; strong communication skills and work ethic. Committed to safety and first‑time right. Other Requirements
