Live Fire – Electronics Technician II Check Defense is a fast‑growing federal contractor seeking a qualified and experienced professional to support military training by ensuring training systems, devices, and subsystems are operational, maintained, and ready for use.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, sustain, maintain, replace, repair, modify, and install various electronic equipment and related devices for the live fire targets.

Install and remove live fire targets to meet SAR objectives.

Manage, transport, install, and load pyrotechnic launchers associated with the live fire targets.

Apply electronics principles for equipment malfunction diagnosis, repair, evaluation, and reliability assessment.

Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, power supplies, and various hand tools.

Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.

Perform electrical and mechanical adjustments, remove and replace failed components, and repair equipment.

Conduct functional testing, scheduled preventive maintenance, unscheduled corrective maintenance, and system realignment.

Perform fault isolation using specialized test equipment, schematics, and diagrams.

Maintain TADSS and GFP in Fully Mission Capable (FMC) condition to meet CMT and CPF requirements.

Maintain items under warranty; record part numbers, serial numbers, and location.

Capture unique item information (UII) or 2‑D barcode data at work performance locations.

Configure and perform function checks of TADSS, ensuring interoperable component systems per specifications.

Track and analyze TADSS components, parts consumption, maintenance trends, and life‑cycle categories.

Implement FRACAS for supported TADSS.

Maintain established TADSS quantities.

Capture TADSS user feedback and coordinate audits, surveys, and interviews.

Remove, replace, and relocate targets; troubleshoot target cabling.

Inspect targets for safety issues and repair damaged silhouettes.

Perform target battery testing, replacement, and installation.

Perform PMCS and verification of dedicated targets.

Check communications with the C2 facility for each BES.

Test fire systems to ensure proper operation.

Store and account for all issued parts and materials for range maintenance operations.

Build, fabricate, and repair targets for range operations.

Safely operate company vehicle and navigate range roads and trails using map/compass, GPS, NOD, and radio communication.

Support the Military Rotational Training Unit’s MILES install/de‑install and instrumentation.

Clean target pits.

Assess, repair, and replace cables for targets.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in electronic technology (or equivalent) and 5 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Valid U.S.-issued driver’s license.

Ability to pass a background check.

Must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret Security clearance.

ETA Basic Electronics Certification (ISO 17024).

Proficiency with test equipment to troubleshoot down to component level.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical ability to stoop, bend, lift, and carry up to 75 lbs.

Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, power supplies, and multiple hand tools.

Working Conditions

Extremes of temperature (heat, cold, wind, rain), exposure to bright flashlights, and loud noise ranging from 50 dB to 165 dB.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

Lift and move up to 75 lbs frequently.

Fine and gross visual acuity for close work.
