The
Maintenance Mechanic II
performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical systems and equipment for assigned facilities. The role may include more complex assignments that span multiple systems or cross‑departmental interaction. Specialized knowledge in locksmithing, HVAC, motors, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems is required for tasks such as repairing heating, lighting, cooling, plumbing, ventilation, electrical motors, compressors, and other equipment.
Responsibilities
Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment such as steam valves, steam traps, coils, radiators, water softeners, unit heaters, water heaters, condensate and circulating pumps.
Services and repairs electric motors, heaters, coolers, refrigerators, air compressors, and other related equipment using hand and power tools.
Uses gauges, test instruments, and diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions in central steam and chemical water treatment systems.
Fabricates, assembles, and tests parts as needed, utilizing metal fabrication tools, common hand tools, power tools, and welding torches.
Safely operates electrical and air‑powered tools, pipe fitting, welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical tools.
Installs new or replacement equipment, performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, masonry, and other maintenance work.
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs malfunctions in boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, refrigeration, ventilating, and air‑conditioning systems.
Opens, repairs, maintains, and installs locks, doors, or related electronic interfaces to ensure efficient door function.
Maintains shop master key boxes, records key issuance, and operates key machines to duplicate or generate keys as needed.
Special Projects
Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to gather information required for job functions.
Assists and participates in technically complex maintenance and repair projects as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of a trade school and at least 2 years of related experience.
Minimum 4 years of related experience.
Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
