We are currently searching for an experienced
Ports Engineer Practice Lead
to support our
Southeast Region
located in
Florida . What you’ll be doing: Serving as a practice builder and growing the SE Region’s ports practice Conducting ongoing business development activities Hiring, managing, and motivating staff Independently performing and supervising structural analysis and design for marine and upland components Independently performing and supervising berthing and mooring analyses Leading development of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for a variety of port projects Applying a strong understanding of maritime codes and references including UFC, PIANC, ASCE-61 Independently preparing basis of design, design calculations, technical reports, alternatives analyses, and study reports Utilizing your appropriate understanding of interdisciplinary requirements for port projects to improve project processes and perform QA/QC reviews Attending client meetings and performing site visits Mentoring a team of developing port and maritime engineers Leveraging existing industry relationships to promote Volkert ports services and cross-sell across all disciplines Performing additional responsibilities as required by the region’s business needs What you need to have: Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil/Structural Engineering Minimum 10 years of experience in analysis and design of port structures Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida Excellent written and oral communication skills Previous experience in analysis and design of medium to large scale ports/maritime/structures and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates Proven experience in business development Ability to hire, manage, and motivate staff Existing relationships with port entities in FL Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines. Valid driver's license. A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
