Garver’s Transportation Design Center, an integrated team specializing in bridge projects, inspections, and load ratings, is seeking a
Bridge Inspection Team Leader
for our
Birmingham, AL
office. A remote or hybrid work arrangement is negotiable. The role involves collaborating with engineers, designers, and technicians to deliver inspections and reports.
This position primarily involves SNBI bridge inspection tasks, including field inspections and office work, with travel across Tennessee, Mississippi, and occasionally other states. Opportunities for involvement in load rating and bridge rehabilitation exist.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing routine bridge and culvert inspections to SNBI and state standards as Inspection Team Leader.
Coordinating site visits for inspections.
Assisting with underwater inspections.
Documenting inspections following company procedures.
Uploading inspection files daily to specialized interfaces.
Data entry related to bridge inspections.
Field work, including carrying ladders, working at heights, and in various weather conditions.
Performing NSTM inspections.
As experience with Garver’s inspection practices grows, responsibilities may expand to include project and staff management.
Experience Requirements:
Completion of NHI Course No. 130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges).
5-10 years of related experience.
Strong communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Completion of NHI Course No. 130078 (Fracture Critical Techniques for Steel Bridges).
Completion of NHI Course No. 130091 (Underwater Bridge Inspection).
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience with InspectX or similar asset management software.
Experience with MicroStation.
Experience with AASHTOWare Bridge Rating software.
