The Distribution Engineering Designer II (DED II) develops designs for electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground circuits for joint use, lighting, and commercial, industrial and residential development. Uses technical skills and field data collection to complete design work; assists with storm restoration when requested; provides support on more complex projects under supervision. Interacts with clients/customers and construction crews to progress projects; uses design specifications and design aid tools to produce design documents. Works primarily in an office environment with significant field work, including exposure to weather and hazards; adheres to safety practices. Note: The role may involve storm response as part of local or travel teams. Your Key Technical Skills

CAD experience Power distribution experience Pole analysis software WMS experience (e.g., Maximo) Understanding of electrical components and circuit knowledge Advanced distribution techniques (switchgear, capacitor banks) Conduit systems Field and work zone safety Your Key Responsibilities Include

Produce electric distribution design drawings and Bill Of Materials (BOM) for moderate complexity projects Perform field data collection and project inspections using standard tools and processes Apply technical skills such as cable pulling calculations, voltage drop calculations, transformer loading, and pole loading analysis Familiarize with client construction standards, workflows, and customer charging guidelines as required Generate permitting and other project supporting documentation as needed Understand hazards of the distribution system and navigate to prevent and mitigate hazards in office and field work Promote safety and participate in safety meetings and training May participate in storm response as an assessor or team lead learner This role will be performed under supervision for mentorship, guidance and training. Qualifications

Four-year ABET-accredited Engineering degree and two years of relevant experience; passing the Fundamentals Exam (FE) can count as six months of relevant experience FE is desired Valid driver’s license required Pre-employment drug screening required; background and motor vehicle checks may be required Seniority level
