Location: 192 Larkin Commerce Pkwy, Statesville, NC 28677, United States. Shift diff: 2nd shift $2.50, 3rd shift $3.50.

Overview Ready to move your career forward? As a Technician at Penske, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road. As a Technician II, you are a respected technician trusted to work independently while performing major and minor repairs, performing road tests to diagnose problems, and completing maintenance tasks. You set an example and informally mentor new technicians while growing your skills.

Main Responsibilities

Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.

Performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision.

Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel systems, etc.

Keeping the work area clean and safe.

Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.

Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training.

Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.

Specialized training and experience in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components, OEM training courses, ASE certification, 608/609 certifications preferred.

Experienced using tools of the trade (diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools).

Valid driver’s license required.

Ability to solve problems.

Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.

Teamwork ability.

Willingness to work in non‑climate‑controlled conditions.

Basic computer skills.

Understanding and compliance with Penske management instructions, DOT, OSHA, and safety policies.

Regular, predictable, full attendance essential.

Current driver qualification file and DOT safety compliance.

Willingness to travel within district, work required schedule, complete application, background and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, sit for extended lengths of time.

Use hands to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel tools or controls.

Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.

Work safely in all weather conditions.

See and hear to navigate the work environment.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
