Base pay range
$75.00/hr - $90.00/hr A leading engineering firm is seeking experienced Structural Engineers to join our team supporting high-impact nuclear and industrial infrastructure projects in Oak Ridge, TN. This is a
6-month contract-to-hire , on-site opportunity for technical experts passionate about advancing the nation’s most critical facilities. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to the full lifecycle of design and construction, and ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
Perform advanced structural calculations and finite element modeling for steel and concrete systems Develop, review, and stamp engineering drawings and specifications Collaborate with project managers, field engineers, and construction teams throughout design and construction Ensure compliance with NQA1, seismic, and regulatory standards (ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 349, AISC N690, DOE-STD-1020) Coordinate with craftspeople and field personnel for constructability and quality Support project execution with hands‑on involvement and technical leadership Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence Operate in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment with a focus on safety and detail Required Skills & Experience
10–20 years of experience as a structural engineer (must have recent nuclear experience, not worked in nuclear since 2020) Recent experience as a Structural Engineer in a nuclear environment Experience and familiarity with NQA1 standards Expertise in STAAD.Pro and/or SAP2000 Familiarity with seismic codes: ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ACI 349, AISC N690, DOE-STD-1020 Understanding of Soil‑Structure Interaction (SSI) Ability to work on‑site in Oak Ridge, TN Ability to obtain a security clearance (US citizenship required) Nice to Have
Member of nuclear code committees (ASCE, ACI, AISC) Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation Master’s in Civil Engineering Field experience: poured concrete, structural steel, working with craftspeople Experience mentoring junior engineers Seniority Level
