Daikin Applied is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team focused on centrifugal compressor production for large‑scale HVACR applications. The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring product quality, process stability, compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME), and customer satisfaction by implementing robust quality control and continuous improvement initiatives across the compressor manufacturing line. What you will do:
Review design documentation for compliance with UL and ISO9001 requirements
Investigate customer/warranty quality concerns
Document data obtained during quality assurance reviews and use quality assurance tools
Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and quality checklists for key components
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions using tools like 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams
Monitor and analyze process capability (Cp, Cp) and implement controls to reduce variation
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supplier teams to identify and resolve quality issues
Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Six Sigma) to improve product quality and process efficiency
Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes from a quality standpoint
Participate in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (SFMA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes
Maintain and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 or industry‑specific standards
Use statistical methods and software (e.g., Minitab, Excel) to analyze quality data and drive decision‑making
Report key quality metrics (defect rates, scrap, rework, cost of poor quality, etc.) and provide insights to management

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related technical field
1-3 years of experience in quality engineering in a mechanical manufacturing environment (compressors, HVACR, turbines, etc.)
Hands‑on experience with precision machining, assembly, and balancing processes related to rotating equipment
Strong knowledge of GD&T, metrology tools, (CMM, surface profilometers), and non‑destructive testing (NDT)
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ASME codes, and industry‑specific compliance standards
Proficiency in using quality tools (FMEA, SPC, Control Charts, 8D, Pareto, etc.)
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and team collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Quality certification
Experience in centrifugal compressor development and manufacturing or high‑speed turbomachinery
Knowledge of ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and QMS platforms
Experience within HVACR industry or environments
