Facility Operations and Maintenance Division – General Maintenance Worker (SC)
Job Summary: Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Duties / Responsibilities
Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
Paint structures and equipment.
Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
Hang doors, install door locks, and replace broken window panes.
Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
Other duties assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities
Proficient written and oral communication skills.
Ensure on‑time service delivery and address vendor performance issues.
Navigate issues, problems, and concerns to achieve positive outcomes for customers.
Identify and escalate support situations requiring urgent attention.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment.
Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken window panes preferred.
Able to understand verbal or written directions from lead supervisor or other craftsmen.
Physical Requirements
Lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop, kneel for short periods; climb a ladder; stand for long periods; maintain constant arm extensions.
Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals; minor safety hazards such as cuts and bruises may occur.
Special Qualifications / Requirements
Must successfully pass a federal, state, or local government background investigation.
