Pay & Benefits

Hourly Pay: $33.96 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)

Sign-On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days

Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends OFF

Hours: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake, and tire work)

Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required

Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred

All other certifications required by location

Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment

Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

This position requires driving Ryder vehicles; you must:

Obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance

Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable

Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision

Replace defective components as instructed

Work unsupervised on most tasks

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task

Utilize key functions of shop management systems and electronic documentation

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels

Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents

Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)

Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)

Complete two OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location (predominant OEM fleet mix completed within 365 days)
