Responsibilities
Perform detailed commercial and industrial electrical take‑offs from blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
Create accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and vendors for electrical contracting projects.
Prepare purchase orders, material orders, and documentation to support bidding and project execution.
Visit job sites to assess progress, maintain logs, evaluate work status, and troubleshoot scope changes.
Confer with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, negotiate pricing, leverage local market knowledge, and build strong vendor relationships.
Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and field teams to ensure alignment and value‑engineering opportunities.
Contribute to cost‑control initiatives, value‑engineering strategies, and bidding processes to enhance overall project profitability.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of relevant estimating or take‑off experience in electrical contracting or construction (commercial/industrial environment preferred).
Proficient in blueprint reading, specification interpretation, material take‑offs, and cost estimating.
Experience with estimating software – AccuBid is preferred – and intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with vendors and internal teams.
Ability to multitask, stay organized, self‑motivated, and proactive in a fast‑paced estimating environment.
High school diploma required; college degree in construction management, electrical engineering or related field preferred.
Must be able to pass a background screening.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary $80,000 – $140,000 per year, depending on experience.
$100 per month phone allowance.
15 days PTO + 7 paid holidays.
