Roadway Engineer Project Manager

to support our

East Gulf Region

located in

Birmingham, Huntsville or Tuscaloosa, AL . What you’ll be doing: Provide plan review and project management for Volkert clients in Alabama. Organize activities, schedules, and reports in support of design projects. Lead or assist in the development of project designs and direct designers to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client-focused strategies. Provide technical design and guidance on projects including preparing engineering studies, documents, and reports. Assist the team in the development of Engineering Interns. Prepare, issue, and track project documentation such as contracts, change orders, etc. for all phases of assigned project work. Prepare correspondence and documents with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies as required. Market new and existing clients. Interact with clients and the public related to your work and understand the context of the plans you develop. Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual. What you need to have: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. 5+ years of experience. Alabama Professional Engineer (PE) License is required. Other PE licenses and/or certifications are a plus. Previous client relationships are a plus. ALDOT or local government design experience preferred. Able to maintain project schedules, which may require occasional extended hours and overnight travel. Experience with computer programs such as MicroStation, ArcGIS, InRoads, various CAD, and OpenRoads Designer. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in the use of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must be dependable with the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks as well as part of the team to meet deadlines and provide high-quality work. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Valid driver’s license. A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
