Position Overview
We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our operations team and drive efficiency across our hi-tech commercial cleaning services. In this role, you will focus on planning optimal work routes for field staff, conducting time studies, leading waste reduction projects, and developing standardized procedures that ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across diverse client facilities.
This is a 100% in-person role at our Wixom, MI headquarters, and requires regular collaboration with field-facing and decision-making staff.
Key Responsibilities
Document and Systematize Route Methodology
Translate Trilogy’s cleaning route creation process into detailed documentation, training materials, and reference guides to support consistent route design across all clients and facilities.
Design and Build Cleaning Routes
Develop labor-efficient, quality-first route plans using time standards, building layouts, and service specifications. Routinely test and revise routes to ensure they meet Trilogy standards and client expectations.
Prepare Route Methodology for App Integration
Collaborate with developers and product managers to define workflows, logic, and data inputs required for our Route Creation and Monitoring App. Serve as the operational subject-matter expert to ensure route-building logic reflects real-world conditions.
Conduct Time Studies & Analyze Workflows
Perform time and motion studies to define accurate labor standards by task, space type, and client requirements. Use these standards to support route planning, staffing models, and cost estimates.
Develop & Maintain Standard Work
Formalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleaning tasks and route execution. Ensure alignment with TOCS and Trilogy Copilot standards.
Collaborate Across Teams
Partner with field operations to implement route changes and ensure training, compliance, and successful rollout.
Support New Client Onboarding
Lead route planning and time forecasting for new accounts. Provide structured tools and instructions to onboard client sites efficiently and consistently.
Qualifications
Cleaning experience or working in a cleaning field is NOT required. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in process systems design & implementation. Strong working knowledge of Lean principles, process mapping, and continuous improvement techniques. Established skills developing, deploying, and managing KPIs. Comfortable conducting fieldwork in various facility environments. Strong communication skills and ability to work with frontline employees and senior leadership. Self-starter with strong analytical and organizational abilities. Must be able to work independently and work flexible hours including occasional evening shifts. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, route optimization software, and other productivity tools.
Expected Hours & Work Environment
Daytime weekday hours, typically 45-50+ hours per week. Work outside of normal business hours, including weekends during peak demand. In-person
