Job Overview The I&E Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the costs associated with electrical and instrumentation projects, ensuring they are within budget and meet the required specifications. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and clients to evaluate electrical and instrumentation drawings, specifications, and proposals. This individual will play a key part in delivering competitive and precise project bids while managing risk and optimizing cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret electrical blueprints or P&ID’s, technical drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical installations and upgrades.
Collaborate with project teams to understand project scope and ensure all elements are accurately estimated.
Analyze labor, material, and time requirements to produce accurate cost estimates.
Prepare and present comprehensive bid proposals, including pricing, schedules, and subcontractor quotes.
Act as a liaison between Logic and Client for bid submission.
Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing on materials and services.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, codes, and standards, ensuring estimates comply with regulatory requirements.
Assist in the preparation of change orders, cost breakdowns, and cost control during project execution.
Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure consistency and accuracy in cost analysis.
Track and update project cost databases and pricing records to improve future estimates.
Work closely with the project management team to ensure a smooth handover from estimating to execution.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation estimating, preferably in industrial construction.
Skills:
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficient in using estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, Trimble) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Account Management.
Certifications:
Estimating, Electrical, or Instrumentation certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
Experience with SCADA, offshore, or large-scale electrical systems is highly desirable.
Experience with green energy or renewable projects is an advantage.
Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus.
