Position This is a very dynamic and fast‑track position reporting to the Field Service Supervisor. The role will be the key member of the service team and the technical point of contact to support sales teams for commercial, industrial, and utility‑scale businesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead complex field engineering assignments for battery storage and PV applications.
Pre‑commissioning and commissioning of battery storage systems (AC & DC couple) and PV inverters, achieving milestones for utility‑scale customers.
Lead preventive maintenance projects as required.
Perform engineering assignments involving installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of central and string solar inverters.
Troubleshoot and test solar inverters and components in the field or laboratory using PQA and oscilloscope.
Troubleshoot solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients.
Provide feedback to engineering on potential mechanical and electrical design improvements.
Lead upgrade projects (software and hardware) in the field and explain technical scope to customers.
Work with customer EMS/SCADA engineers to set up system communication and parameters.
Create field service procedures when none exist for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Assist in training materials for customers as requested by the Training Manager.
Research alternative components for field use.
Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for troubleshooting support.
Lead projects such as upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning.
Independently perform field service tasks involving communication with Factory Engineering and customer solar plant engineers.
Coordinate and collaborate with engineering, logistics, finance, and program management to maintain solar plants.
Support repair activities in the service center.
Prepare, deliver, and submit field reports to customers and management.
Support development of technical proposals and comment on technical scope and effort.
Conduct site visits, experimental investigations, and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and provide recommendations.
Minimum Requirements
7+ years of overall engineering experience.
3 years of experience in battery storage systems and 2 years with solar inverters.
Ability to use test equipment and hand tools as required.
Strong customer service, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and analytical skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and SOPs for job duties.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
OSHA, NSPA70A, Electrical Safety certification.
Education or Desired License and Certificates
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
Renewable industry experience required.
Power electronics experience required.
Competencies
