Role Description Tata Technologies, Inc.: Mechanical Engineer – Detroit, MI (and various unanticipated client locations)
Duties
Collaboration with customer design team for design objectives and goals.
Capture project details and scope per overall program directive.
Engage proactively with different design responsibility teams which includes mechanical, validation, electrical, embedded, manufacturing and many more to deliver better value from offshore engagement.
Responsible for completing all engineering deliverables in a project within the constraints of quality, delivery, cost and features.
Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects.
Design and development of engine components, Radiator Guard Assembly, Integrated Open Power Units skid, Fluid Lines, Frame Assembly based on customer requirements with all the attachment options.
Attend client design review and strategic product design meetings to contribute in design progress and capture directions & priorities.
Facilitate the workflow, channelize the knowledge sharing, improve communication, communicate work requirements & solve queries between the clients & Tata technologies.
Review concept mechanical design with engineering, manufacturing & purchasing team through regular meetings.
Provide the inputs to Tata technologies offshore team and complete the production intent 3d model and drawings.
Work in partnership with design and manufacturing team for firsthand understanding of requirements and for implementation of designs.
Work with cross functional team such as Engineering, Manufacturing, & Purchasing to address manufacturing plant requests on assembly process improvement, standardization and pokey yoke designs.
Solve quality problems using Design Failure Mode Effective Analysis (DFMEA).
Process Failure Model Effective Analysis (PFMEA), Five-why quality tools; Fish bone diagrams.
Work with client’s engineering team to implement Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) & apply ASME Y14.5 engineering standards on all mechanical components design based on Form, Fit & Functions of the product.
Develop designs for customer product per New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining and VA/VE requirements.
Responsible for Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Development and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).
Participate Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) workshops at Doosan Facility to define cost reductions projects based on bench marking & Functional, Cost Analysis.
Upload 3d model and detailing work received from Tata technologies to Extra link database.
Create Bill of Materials in ECN to track the new parts in the system.
Review offshore deliverables with customer design guidelines and specifications.
Manage all projects using project tracking sheet with milestone dates.
Review Tata technologies final model & drawing comply with client’s standards & specifications & review with engineering team before release into the Windchill database system.
Capture lessons learned after each project and develop knowledge Management tool and standardize it for client.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering field and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience. Experience must include:
3 years of experience with each of the following:
CREO Design 3d Modeling Software
Windchill for Product design and collaboration
Design Failure Mode Effective Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Model Effective Analysis (PFMEA)
CREO schematics, CREO Cabling, and extra Link
Computational Fluid Dynamics using Star CCM
Telework Position may be authorized for full-time or part-time telecommuting with authorization from manager and HR. Position may be assigned to various unanticipated client locations for short and/or long term assignments.
Salary $93,642 to $110,000/year. Regional salary adjustments for CA, CO, NY and WA states are base + 20% - 30%.
Location 6001 Cass Avenue, Suite 600, Detroit, MI – 48202 and various unanticipated client locations.
