Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Civil Inspector to serve as the Owner’s Representative for a large utility-scale solar project in Oregon. The Civil Inspector will monitor subcontractor activities, verify compliance with project specifications, and provide accurate reporting on the progress and quality of all civil construction work. This role is observational and documentation-focused, with no supervisory responsibilities over crews. Responsibilities

Act as the Owner’s on-site representative for all civil construction activities, including Solar, Access roads and crane pads, trenching and backfilling, stormwater management systems and erosion control or laydown areas, culverts, and drainage structures Perform routine inspections to verify work is being executed in accordance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Observe and document construction progress, including photographs and field notes, to ensure accurate project tracking. Prepare and submit daily field reports, inspection logs, and progress updates to the project team. Track subcontractor progress against project schedules and flag any deviations or potential delays. Identify and report any non-conforming work or safety concerns to the Construction Manager or QA/QC team. Verify that testing (e.g., soil compaction, concrete strength) is performed as required, and review results for compliance. Attend progress meetings and provide technical input from the field perspective. Qualifications

3+ years of experience in civil inspection, field engineering, or quality control on large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects. Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering Familiarity with solar construction/civil practices and components is a plus. Strong understanding of civil engineering principles including concrete, grading, drainage, and earthwork. Experience interpreting civil plans, technical specifications, and construction drawings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for field documentation and reporting. Competent with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management or inspection software (e.g., Procore, SiteDocs) is a plus. Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments, under varied weather conditions. Valid driver’s license Preferred

Civil Inspection Certifications (NICET, ICC, or similar) OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety Certification Prior experience representing an owner or developer on large-scale energy projects Experience with environmental compliance and erosion control inspections (SWPPP) Employment type
