Position Summary The Lung Transplant Laboratory of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a Technician B to support the daily operations of the lung transplant biobank and research activities. This is a support staff position that operates under direct supervision and does not include any managerial or supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Support the management of the lung transplant biobank in coordination with clinical research coordinators.
Assist senior researchers with the execution of experiments and routine laboratory procedures.
Maintain and help update laboratory protocols and documentation.
Coordinate basic research activities including ordering supplies, tracking materials, and supporting equipment maintenance.
Facilitate benchtop research tasks and manage clinical information associated with research specimens (e.g., databases, consent forms).
Perform general lab duties, including processing and storing samples per lung transplant biobank and CF Lung Transplant Consortium protocols.
Complete and maintain case report forms and documentation related to specimen processing for accuracy and completeness.
Assist with packaging and shipping research specimens, ensuring compliance with relevant protocols and documentation requirements.
Track and maintain inventory of lab supplies and reagents; assist with placing orders through the designated grant manager.
Monitor freezer logs to ensure proper storage conditions in accordance with study protocols.
Collaborate with research staff, clinical coordinators, and administrative personnel to support ongoing studies.
Assist with routine data verification, quality control checks, and internal audits to maintain data accuracy and protocol compliance.
Help orient and support new lab personnel or students on biobank-related protocols and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or a related science, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of relevant laboratory experience.
Other Requirements
The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.
Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
