This is an offsite listing at Oakland Industrial Park (OIP). The Role
As a welder, you will be qualified through the shipyard’s welding school. You will perform structural and/or pipe welds in all phases of ship construction using a range of welding filler metals and processes. Welds include tack, fillet, and full penetration on steel foundations and joints in production on aircraft carriers and submarines. Processes may include SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW. Welds are performed in all positions using manual and mechanized methods and must satisfy nondestructive testing requirements. Training includes certified visual inspection, fire watch, carbon arcing, and troubleshooting welding equipment. This listing is for an Offsite Location: Oakland Industrial Park (OIP).
Responsibilities
Perform welding tasks including tack, fillet, and full penetration on steel foundations and joints
Use SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW welding processes
Weld in all positions with manual and mechanized equipment
Meet nondestructive testing requirements (visual, MPI, UT, radiographic)
Participate in training such as certified visual inspection and safety duties
Must Have
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Minimum of 3 years welding experience
Must Be Able To
Climb ladders and stairs
Work in small, tight, or confined spaces
Kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb daily
Lift heavy objects weighing 40 lbs or more
Work while repeatedly reaching overhead
Work indoors or outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
Work in areas with radiation
Take and pass a respirator fit test
Work assigned shift as production needs
Take and pass a Physical Agility Test
Nice to Have
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Completion of Welding Certification from an AWS Accredited School and/or Program
