Scope of the Position This position performs unsupervised field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on one or more types of renewable energy generators. The scope includes full system installation, commissioning, maintenance, and performance evaluation of power and energy systems. The Technician 3 may lead teams on routine tasks and demonstrates proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools, understanding system software, and familiarity with the latest industry standards.
Required Training Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend a mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of employment. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.
Location This position is on‑site in Chandler, MN.
Salary Range The full pay range for this role is $22.16 to $46.82 per hour. The target range for this position is $24.00 to $38.00 per hour.

Summary of Responsibilities
Performs preventative maintenance on wind turbines, utility‑scale photovoltaic power plants, and storage systems.
Under the supervision of an experienced technician, performs troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/revisions to a broad range of equipment in the renewable industry.
Properly completes Job Safety Assessments, applies LOTO procedures, identifies & reports all safety hazards, and attends safety meetings.
Participates in the 24hr/weekly “On Call” rotation & works outside business hours when needed.
Attends safety and technical training required for this position.
Administrative duties include documented completed jobs, supply orders, daily work orders, time tracking, and any other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment.
Other Duties as Assigned Other duties include support of site budget, maintenance and repair cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Conditions 100% of time is spent working in the renewable asset field. Marginal office time involves computers, phones, and general office equipment. The position requires working on platforms or skids, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and repetitive use of legs, arms, hands, and fingers. The employee works eight (8) hours a day, forty (40) hours a week, and overtime and night shifts as required.

Extreme weather conditions, including cold, heat, rain, wind.
High voltage and stored energy.
Moving mechanical parts and vibration.
Confined spaces.
Noise level is usually moderate.
Fiscal Responsibilities Support site budget by ensuring costs remain within budget and maintenance and repairs are made in a timely manner by finding efficiencies and working with appropriate subject matter experts to decrease operating loss factor (OLF) and striving for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1+ year of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Valid current driver’s license and ability to operate motor vehicles.
Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines/photovoltaic power and energy storage systems.
Familiar with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E and appropriate PPE.
Basic understanding of schematics and use of a multimeter.
Able to demonstrate basic computer knowledge.
Able to follow verbal & written instructions.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for entry‑level technician.
Ability to understand, read, write, and speak clearly in English.
Physical Requirements

Operate company vehicles (field trucks) on site and on public roads and highways.

Work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain.
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
Physical Weight Limit Restriction Maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs. Employee weight subject to review at any time throughout the duration of employment and required annually at a minimum.
