What You’ll Do For Our Patients

Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, including applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups.

Job Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of Mercy‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Key duties include performing and analyzing patient x‑rays, reporting results to providers, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of Mercy‑GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.

Job Requirements Education

High School Diploma required.

ARRT certification required.

Work Experience

Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.

Essential Functions

Perform x‑ray services as needed, ensuring patients are positioned correctly and protected during use.

Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x‑ray services for patients of all age groups, from newborn to elderly.

Push patient in a wheelchair if necessary.

Patient Preparation and Rooming

Prepare patients for examination, including interviewing to verify patient information and record medical history.

Perform preliminary vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed.

Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed and provide patient information to provider.

Administrative

Maintain medical records and scanning charts to patient files.

Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up on care.

Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets.

Other Responsibilities

Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine optimal procedures and views.

Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and safety, and answering questions.

Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging.

Adjust radiographic controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images.

Perform routine equipment maintenance and manage supplies.

Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles.

Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures.

Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.

Knowledge

Knowledge of x‑ray procedures and protocols.

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.

Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards common to radiology.

Skills

Proper patient positioning for x‑ray procedures.

Identification and resolution of equipment problems.

Adherence to infection control and radiological safety procedures.
