Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
Valid ARRT, RCIS, or RCES certification in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Preferred Qualifications
Current ACLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
PALS or ENPC certification
Additional certifications or licenses relevant to the position
Summary The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. Responsibilities include preparing patients, operating imaging equipment, maintaining sterile fields, monitoring vital signs, administering contrast media, ensuring radiation safety, troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
Essential Work Functions
Prepare and position patients for IR procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures
Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures
Manage and restock procedural supplies, including catheters, guidewires, and contrast agents
Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care
Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions
PC skills and basic computer proficiency
Physical abilities: remaining in a stationary position, moving equipment (50–100 lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel
Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and equipment use
Mental resilience to cope with frequent contact with patients and working under close supervision or independently
Visual acuity and effective communication capability
