Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team and ensure our fleet of motorcoaches operates safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be skilled in performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems, with a focus on quality workmanship and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on diesel motorcoaches.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and HVAC system issues.
Conduct brake repairs as needed.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Ensure all work meets federal, state, and company safety and compliance standards (e.g., DOT regulations).
Use diagnostic software and tools to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Respond to emergency breakdowns, including road calls if required.
Assist with parts inventory and recommend parts replacements or purchases.
Collaborate with drivers and dispatch to identify and prioritize service needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics.
3+ years of experience working with diesel engines or heavy vehicles (motorcoach or bus experience a plus).
Valid driver's license (CDL with passenger endorsement or willingness to obtain).
Strong understanding of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Stand, bend, squat, and work in various positions and environments for extended periods.
Work in outdoor conditions and around heavy machinery.
Must pass a drug screening and background check.
