Summary The Pipefitter position is a critical role for the company. The individual will follow all safety rules and regulations and work as part of a team daily. This role will work under the guidance of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager, depending on the assignment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.

Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.

Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.

Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.

Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.

Cut and bore holes in structures such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains prior to pipe installation using hand and power tools.

Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment following specifications and using hand and power tools.

Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.

Turn valves to shut off water or other gases or liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.

Remove and replace worn components.

Prepare cost estimates for clients.

Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.

Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.

Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.

Qualifications Required Education And/or Experience High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Ability to pass background check and drug screen.

Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

OSHA 10 Certification desired.

Ability to read and understand blueprints.

Preferred Education And/or Experience

Knowledge of the construction industry and documentation.

Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.

Operate a forklift and/or scissor lift.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Familiarity with AutoCAD and other mechanical, technical, or construction programs.

Familiarity with project management/document control software.

Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

Physical Demands Employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and controls; walk, reach, climb or balance; kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee may occasionally lift up to twenty‑five (25) pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral,_DEPTH perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must commute to field locations as needed.

Work Environment The work environment involves long periods of sitting in front of a computer and traveling to field locations. Work outdoors may involve wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high precarious places, dust, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
