SEIU Maintenance Worker III, Step 76: $41.06/hour - Step 99: $53.67/hour. External candidates will begin at Step 76 ($41.06/hour). Definition:

Under general supervision, performs skilled installation, preventive maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical systems and equipment in a wide variety of District facilities; performs related work as assigned. Class Characteristics:

This is a journey level classification performing the full scope of skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on both the traction power system and all other high and normal voltage equipment and systems required for the operation of District facilities. This class is distinguished from all other journey level maintenance classes in that the work is related specifically to the electrical trade. Reports To:

Assistant Superintendent of Power Mechanical Maintenance or designee Current Assignment:

This is a SEIU Local 1021 Bargaining unit position. All SEIU members must follow the "Bid Form Process". The process may include a skills/performance test, written exam, and/or a panel interview. Outside applicants will be considered only after internal candidates. Application Process:

Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and adjustment of electrical systems and equipment required to power the rail vehicle system. Maintain and repair electrical systems in offices, shops, and facilities. Install, maintain, repair, and modify various industrial systems and equipment, including high-voltage systems, transformers, motors, lighting, and backup systems. Install conduit and wiring for motors, control panels, and lighting. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems; suggest improvements; collaborate with engineering and maintenance staff. Use diagnostic and measuring devices; interpret diagrams and manuals; record work details. Operate District vehicles and equipment for repairs. Follow safety procedures; assist patrons; request supplies as needed. Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Either three years of experience in electrical systems installation, maintenance, or repair, or completion of an electrical apprenticeship plus one year of journey-level experience. Experience with high voltages and industrial equipment is desirable. Other Requirements:

Valid California Class B driver’s license; physically capable of working in confined spaces; willing to work occasional emergency overtime. Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of:

Methods, tools, and materials for electrical work; use of testing devices; troubleshooting; safety practices; applicable codes. Skills/Abilities in:

Diagnosing electrical issues; performing preventive maintenance; reading diagrams and manuals; working independently and in teams; maintaining records; establishing effective relationships. Equal Employment Opportunity
