Overview Los Angeles Angels are seeking a minor league dietitian based near major airport. Year‑round position requiring attendance at Spring Training (mid‑Feb–April 1), Instructional League (mid September–end Oct), Mini Camp (January). Competitive season: average 3 weeks/month in person at affiliates: Madison, AL; Salt Lake City, UT; Pasco, WA (April–November). Provide medical nutrition therapy, performance nutrition education; ensure safe food and supplement supply; enhance development of athletes in high A, AA, AAA affiliates.
Benefits Benefit eligible: medical, dental, vision; 401(k) eligibility after 3 months; employer matching after 1 year; safe harbor after 1 year and 1000 hours; additional perks. Salary range $75,000–$85,000.
Primary Responsibilities
Point of contact for day‑to‑day nutrition needs: player fueling, health, performance across rehab group, AA, AAA; including catering and food service logistics at affiliates.
Oversee nutrition education initiatives in High A, AA, AAA.
Coordinate athlete nutrition care; measure success; communicate results to MLB dietitian.
Onboard newly drafted players July/August to assimilate to professional baseball.
Duties
Collaborate with sports performance team to establish player plans, season goals.
Create/educate players on individual fueling plans.
Meet weekly in‑season to report player plan progress to Major League Sports Dietitian.
Coordinate in‑season meals with clubhouse managers, caterers chefs at home and away per athlete needs and MiLB budget.
Travel to minor league affiliates (home/road) to meet individually, provide education, evaluate meals/snacks.
Advise clubhouse managers on fueling resources at affiliate sites.
Assess/analyze dietary habits, body composition, hydration practices, energy balance; adjust fueling habits to enhance performance and organizational goals.
Advise athletes on individualized nutrition strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and Registered Dietitian (RD/N) Credential required.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics preferred.
Spanish Speaking preferred.
At least 1 year working with a veteran sports dietitian.
Professional behavior and communication.
Available long hours, nights, weekends throughout season.
Ability to travel 14–21 days each month during season to affiliates.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Ability to inspire change in multiple personality types and cultures.
Physical Demands
Stand/walk extended periods.
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Extremely active 4–5 hrs at a time.
Work in inclement weather.
Work on uneven ground.
