Responsibilities
Collaborate with Designers, Production Team, and Merchants on product design to provide technical expertise and confirm fit and aesthetic details
Evaluate fit problems on live models
Create and update technical packs for multiple product categories
Communicate with factories in a timely manner through clear written comments outlining construction changes and workmanship improvements while utilizing illustrator, digital photos, and technical sketches for detailed understanding.
Manage sample tracking and fit approvals from presentation through TOP. Make sure all deadlines are met including bulk & photo approvals.
Accountable for the fit sample process from hand off to TOP for bulk production.
Daily organization and upkeep of sample history and technical records.
Interpersonal Skills
Conduct weekly fittings independently and manage fit process
Strong and clear communication skills with internal and external partners
Self‑motivated with a strong ability to self‑manage and define priorities of the department/business
Highly organized with ability to manage multiple categories
Team player, open to work with cross‑functional and technical design team members
Adjust quickly to changes while remaining focused on company business objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, technical design or equivalent experience
5 years of technical design experience
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Excel, understanding of sewing, patterns, garment construction, spec knowledge and technical sketching
Understanding of grade principles and application to specific product by division
Knowledge of factory machinery specific to production area (domestic and international)
Knowledge of fabrics, construction and washes/dyeing
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of the technical role
Knowledge of Women’s wear construction and tailoring. Strong experience in pants fits.
PLM literate or similar program skills. Proficient in PC applications including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Understands J.Crew Brand and business objectives.
