Description Michael Baker International is growing rapidly in Salt Lake City (Midvale), Utah, and we’re seeking a passionate Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic team! You’ll work on a variety of bridge projects for Utah DOT and national clients, contributing to innovative solutions and collaborating with experienced engineers and project managers.

Responsibilities

Perform complex structural analyses and design calculations.

Manage bridge/structural tasks, including plan and report development.

Create structural details and construction plans using industry‑standard software.

Review and verify design calculations by other engineers.

Prepare bridge layouts, specifications, and material quantity estimates.

Build and maintain relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

UDOT relationships highly desirable.

Supervise and mentor junior structural engineering staff.

Collaborate with other disciplines (traffic, civil, geotechnical, etc.) on diverse projects.

Prepare or review 3D bridge models and support BIM/digital delivery efforts.

Contribute to solving infrastructure challenges and shaping the future of our organization.

Professional Requirements

Bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is preferred.

Minimum 8+ years of experience in structural engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the State of Utah.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Strong all‑around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.

Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team environment.

Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI and other North American design codes.

Experience with Utah DOT bridge standards and projects highly desirable.

Compensation The approximate compensation range for this position is $94,000 - $135,000. This compensation range is a good‑faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
