HDR is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Michigan-based Power Generation team.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting power and energy projects primarily within the utility, IPP, industrial, institutional, and municipal sectors. Preferred candidates will have:

Knowledge of industrial- and utility-scale power generation systems, including mechanical equipment/pipe sizing, layout considerations, and construction document development (P&IDs, system layouts, installation drawings, specifications). Experience with vendor and contractor communications, technical writing, code reviews, site visits, project planning, and working within budgets and schedules. Significant experience with power generation fluid systems such as steam, condensate, fuel gas, cooling water, and compressed air, with proficiency in software for fluid analysis or modeling being a plus. Development Opportunities:

Candidates will be encouraged and trained to advance from mechanical or lead engineer roles to project engineer, and eventually to project or engineering manager. Collaboration with engineers and designers from various disciplines is expected, along with mentoring junior engineers. Strong communication and leadership skills are desired. Travel Requirements:

Travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings, and construction monitoring is expected to be less than 10%. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license Experience with commercial or institutional facilities Proficiency in MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and manufacturer selection tools Experience with architectural/engineering or consulting firms Active participation in our employee-owned culture Our Values and Commitment:
