Position Summary The
Electrical Technician
will be responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and power distribution equipment up to 480 volts, including generator connections, temporary power setups, and transfer systems. The role requires a solid understanding of construction and temporary power standards, including familiarity with UL 1640 portable power distribution assemblies. This position involves hands‑on field work with occasional travel throughout Texas and surrounding states to support installations and service projects.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test electrical distribution systems up to 480V, including:
Temporary power panels and transformers
Generator connection equipment and cabling
Load banks and transfer switches
Distribution boxes, camlock systems, and feeder cables
Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and load testing of circuits and distribution gear.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, one‑lines, and wiring schematics.
Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 safety standards.
Follow company lockout/tagout, grounding, and arc flash safety procedures.
Coordinate with project managers and field technicians to ensure timely completion of projects.
Perform troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems, generators, and distribution components.
Complete daily jobsite safety inspections and hazard assessments.
Maintain accurate records of installations, testing results, and inspections.
Support the setup of temporary and construction power systems for clients and company projects.
Qualifications
Licensed Journeyman Electrician (Texas) or ability to obtain reciprocity.
10+ years of relevant electrical experience (industrial, construction, or generator‑based preferred).
Proven ability to install and test 480V systems, feeders, and temporary power circuits.
Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and OSHA 1910/1926 electrical safety standards.
Knowledge of UL 1640 standards for portable power distribution (preferred).
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings.
Comfortable working outdoors and traveling across Texas and surrounding states for projects.
Must be self‑motivated, safety‑focused, and able to work independently or on a crew.
Preferred Experience
Experience in generator installation, connection, and load testing.
Familiarity with camlock systems, Type W and SC cables, transformers, and transfer switches.
Prior work in construction power, event power, or industrial temporary systems.
OSHA 10, NFPA 70E training, or equivalent safety credentials.
