We're looking for enthusiastic individuals (minimum 16 years of age and currently in high school or beyond! ) who are eager to dive into the fun. Imagine your 'work day' involving

playing sports with youth ,

keeping score of games ,

assisting with brackets , and even becoming an

esport video gaming

guru! It's an incredible

The deadline to submit applications is September 8, 2025. Please note, the City of Aurora will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first-come, first-served basis; as soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice.

Hiring Salary is $18.00/hour.

This position is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

Youth program assistants help with the operation of We Are Aurora Youth school break program by playing sports with youth, keeping score of games, assisting with brackets, and esport operation. Creates a positive environment for youth at recreation centers. This job is considered an entry level opportunity to gain work experience in addition to working with youth.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with We Are Aurora Youth school break program Plays sports with youth Keeps score of games Assists with brackets Assists with esport video gaming operation. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Minimum 16 years of age.

Education

HS Diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in high school.

Experience

At least 6 months of experience working with individuals with disabilities in recreation programs or similar activities

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year of working with youth and experience operating gaming equipment First Aid or CPR certifications Valid Colorado Driver’s License or Permit

Knowledge:

Basic knowledge of sports

Skills:

Strong time management skills Strong problem-solving skills Strong communication skills

Abilities:

Ability to multitask Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with diverse socioeconomic and multicultural groups Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy Ability to understand, interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations, and policies

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

Medium physical work that involves moving no more than 50 pounds with or without assistance at a time with or without assistance.

Work Environment:

Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment. Works at various recreation centers.

Equipment Used:

This job may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
