Job Summary The Territory Business Development Manager (TBDM) is responsible for driving new business production and meeting specific performance metrics within an assigned territory. This role focuses on managing relationships with existing agencies, recruiting new agencies, and ensuring that agents meet sales, profitability, and growth objectives. The TBDM will work closely with agents to optimize their performance through training, process improvement, and incentives, while also addressing underperformance when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Consistently achieve new business production targets, direct written premium, and loss ratio goals, while meeting other key performance indicators (KPIs) annually.

Manage the agent relationships within an assigned territory to ensure sales growth and profitability.

Identify and solicit new agencies, evaluate their potential to write quality business, and recommend agency appointments to the Vice President (VP) or Business Development Regional Manager (BDRM).

Recommend agencies for participation in profit-sharing programs, rewards, and other sales initiatives designed to drive growth and improve agent performance.

Increase the percentage of producing agents within the territory by providing training and implementing process improvements.

Monitor agency performance, taking corrective action when necessary, including terminating relationships with agencies that fail to meet production goals, deliver unprofitable results, or violate company standards.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that all agencies are compliant with company policies and contribute to overall profitability.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry, including trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred. Relevant work experience in P&C insurance operations will be considered.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a business development, sales, or insurance-related role.

P&C license preferred but not required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM software, and sales analytics tools.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales expectations and achieving territory sales plans.

Strong analytical skills to evaluate agency performance and market trends.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage agent relationships effectively.

Creative problem-solving and marketing skills to drive agency sales growth.

Strong organizational, negotiation, and time management skills.

Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks within deadlines.

Work Environment This role may require travel within the assigned territory and the ability to work independently to achieve business objectives.
